The British Horse Society Riding Clubs and French Creek Dressage Association are very excited to announce their affiliation. This is the first time an American club has been allowed to become affiliated with the British Horse Society and Riding Clubs.
This is a great achievement for FCDA, considering it has only been in existence for a year and a half. The board has been working hard to provide high level instruction in both riding, theory and horse care. Being affiliated with the BHS Riding Clubs means FCDA can provide training and examinations to British Horse Society standards both in riding and horse care.
FCDA has a university program similar to the USDF university, so members will be able to gain credits participating in the Riding Club courses, as well as the BHS Horse Owners course already run by one of the clubs members, Louise Jordan-Beam BHSAI. Other courses have been on trailering, worming, presenting young horses, the new dressage tests.
Louise Jordan-Beam BHSAI was the first registered BHS Instructor to be allowed to run the Horse Owners course in the US, and approached French Creek about putting themselves forward for affiliation with the BHS Riding Clubs. She felt there was a large gap in instruction on the horse care and theory side in local clubs. The board of FCDA wholeheartedly welcomed the opportunity to increase the amount of training for its members and instructed Louise to start the application process.
The British Horse Society Riding Club is a way for everyday riders to get together with other like minded people to socialize, train and compete. In Britain there are over 400 clubs, divided into regions, who compete against each other as individuals and clubs, the winners going forward to national championships.
