French Creek is the only American riding club affiliated with the British Riding Clubs and in June 2011 some of its members travelled from Pennsylvania USA to Central Scotland to help celebrate the 50th anniversary of their ‘twinned’ British Club - the Polnoon Castle Riders Association. As well as enjoying the hospitality of their hosts and visiting many of the Scottish tourist sights, there was the opportunity to meet members of the local horse community to compare different riding styles and care of horses.
The week culminated in two riding events. On Saturday 4th June Polnoon held their 50th Anniversary Horse show, followed by a commemorative party at Rowallan Activity Centre. French Creek members helped to run the show two members also competing on borrowed horses.
Invited to compete in the British Riding Club’s Area 1 Qualifier, four French Creek members borrowed horses from their Polnoon hosts, and competed at Rozell Park Ayr on 5th June.
